CoupleWorks is a confidential counselling service in northern Niedersachsen for people of any sexual orientation struggling with difficult times in their intimate relationships.
The service is offered by experienced relationship counsellor Monika Boenigk. Monika studied Social Pedagogy in Germany before training and working as a holistic midwifery practitioner in Germany and Australia for over 20 years. Her long involvement with couples and their problems led her to undertake formal training with Relationships Australia from whom she was awarded a Graduate Diploma in Couple Therapy. Monika conducted her successful CoupleWorks counselling practice in Australia for a number of years before returning to Germany.
As Monika is fluent in both German and English, sessions can be conducted in either language.
Monika’s approach is based on the Imago model which examines the background each individual brings to a relationship and the consequences it has for the couple’s interactions. It offers considerable benefits beyond those associated with dealing with a couple’s current problem.
Monika’s flexible approach to counselling is one that many couples find effective. They learn to understand the influences that shape their relationship, both positive and negative. Difficulties are addressed at their root cause, laying a firm foundation for the future of the relationship. With a refined vision of their connection, couples enjoy the chance to rekindle the romance and engage in more satisfying intimacy.
Individuals gain a better appreciation of the ways they interact with others and the reasons they behave as they do. Frustrations are acknowledged and dealt with in a constructive manner. They learn how to listen to other people with awareness and sensitivity, and to communicate their own thoughts and feelings with clarity and respect. Not only is their ability to manage their current relationship improved, but they are much better prepared to deal with any future relationships, romantic or otherwise.
The service is located near Bremervörde — approximately halfway between Hamburg and Bremerhaven — and is aimed at residents of north-central Niedersachsen from Stade to Rotenburg (Wümme), Zeven, Bremerhaven and Cuxland. Bremervörde is served by a variety of rail and bus connections. Off-street parking is available in Bremervörde. It is possible that sessions might also be arranged in Bremerhaven.

Instead of being held at the consulting rooms, sessions may be conducted via online videolink using Skype or FaceTime, both of which employ end-to-end encryption to ensure privacy.
For sessions at the consulting rooms, we adopt recommended precautions to prevent spread of COVID-19.
A large glass screen between clients and therapist offers additional protection while preserving the immediacy of the interaction.
Depending on the weather, outdoor sittings are also possible.
